Praize Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 11, 2026
Praize ("we," "our," or "the app") helps you identify secondhand items and
estimate their resale value. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the
choices you have. Questions? Email
downloadpraize@gmail.com.
Information we collect
- Photos you scan. When you scan an item, the photo is sent
to our backend for AI identification and pricing. Photos may be stored to
power your scan history. You can delete them (see "Your choices").
- Scan results. The identified item, category, condition,
and estimated price range are saved to your scan history.
- Account information. If you create an account, we store
the email address and authentication details needed to sign you in.
Signed-out use is supported with an anonymous identifier.
- Barcodes. Barcodes you scan are used to look up product
and pricing information.
- Location (Stores finder). When you open the Stores tab and
grant permission, your approximate location is used to find secondhand and
thrift stores near you. It is sent to Google Places to return nearby results;
it is not stored with your account and is never used to track you.
- Usage & cost analytics. Events such as "a scan
completed" — with non-sensitive details like scan mode and item category —
are recorded and tied to your account so we can operate the
service, understand how features are used, and manage our processing costs.
This is first-party only: never sold, and never used to track you across
other apps or websites.
How your information is used
- To identify scanned items and estimate resale value.
- To maintain your scan history across sessions and devices.
- To operate accounts, subscriptions, and customer support.
- To improve the accuracy and reliability of the app.
- To understand which features are used and our own service/API costs, tied
to your account. This is first-party analytics only — never shared with
third parties and never used for advertising or cross-app tracking.
Third parties who process your data
- Supabase — hosts our database, storage, and backend
functions.
- AI processing providers — Google (Gemini) and Anthropic
(Claude). When you scan an item, the photo (and any text read from
it) is sent to one of these AI providers to identify the item and estimate
its resale value. Google Gemini handles photo scans; Anthropic Claude
handles barcode look-ups and supplemental pricing research. Your photos are
sent only to complete the scan you request and are not used by these
providers to train their models or to advertise to you.
- eBay — provides live marketplace pricing and comparable
listings for identified items. If you choose to connect your eBay account
and list an item, the listing details and photos you confirm are sent to
eBay to publish that listing on your own eBay account. When you connect
eBay we store an eBay authorization token (never your eBay password) so we
can list on your behalf; you can disconnect anytime, and the token is
deleted automatically when you delete your Praize account.
- Google Places (Maps) — when you use the Stores finder,
your approximate location (or a place you search for) is sent to Google to
return nearby thrift and secondhand stores and their details (hours, rating,
contact). This is used only to answer your search.
- logo.dev — store brand logos shown on the map are fetched
from logo.dev by the store's website domain. No personal information about
you is sent.
- Apple — processes in-app subscription purchases; we never
receive your full payment details.
Each of these providers is contractually required to protect your data to a
standard at least equal to this policy and to use it only to provide their
service to Praize — never for their own advertising, profiling, or model
training. We do not sell your personal information.
Who can access your data
Praize's operators can view account-level information — including your email
address and your usage and processing-cost totals — to operate the service,
provide support, prevent abuse, and manage costs. Access is limited to
authorized Praize operators; this information is never sold or shared for
advertising.
Camera
The app requests camera access solely to let you photograph or scan items.
Camera data is used only for the scan you initiate.
Location
The app requests location access only when you use the Stores finder, to show
secondhand and thrift stores near you. Location is used on a when-in-use basis
only, never in the background, and is not stored with your account. You can
revoke access anytime in iOS Settings → Praize.
Data retention
Scan history and photos are retained until you delete them or delete your
account. Anonymous analytics are retained in aggregate.
Your choices
- Clear history: Remove saved scans anytime from the
History tab.
- Delete your account: Profile → Delete Account permanently
removes your account, saved scans, and stored photos from our servers.
- Camera access: Revoke anytime in iOS Settings → Praize.
Children
Praize is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect
their information.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy; material changes will be reflected by the "Last
updated" date above.
